The Vicar Of Bray

Those who have been following the career of David Cuthbert Brogan can attest, as can the blog author, that he appeared very much a progressive when he joined Farnborough Abbey. The author can likwise attest that they have heard the view expressed that Brogan was never a Traditionalist!

It may be one thing to keep your head down and wait for the tide to change but this outright courting of those instrumental in implementing TC will have the TLM devout perhaps willing to question Abbot Cuthbert's integrity in ways they wouldn't have before. Our "Vicar Of Bray" may find himself, counter perhaps to his scheming, actually more exposed than he thinks.

It remains to be seen if Cuthbert....

"This vicar, being taxed [attacked] by one for being a turncoat and an inconstant changeling, said, "Not so, for I always kept my principle, which is this – to live and die the Vicar of Bray."

  1. I am not sure what this blog is intended to achieve. As someone who has been through the mental healthcare system I cannot see how this blog and your continuing anger helps you resolve your issues and heal.

    1. This blog intends to forewarn prospective vocations that they may continue their discernment elsewhere (Though cautiously as in my opinion much Religious Life is affected similarly) The Church may yet, late in time, remove Abbot Cuthbert and replace him or suppress the Abbey. He may feel the long arm of the law and eventually he, like the rest of us, will go the way of all flesh. I hope your experience of the mental healthcare system was all it should have been and I wish you well for the future and thank you for caring about my mental health. I am rarely ragingly angry about all this. I, as I'm sure many other victims of Cuthbert, feel hurt and retraumatised when I / we see The Church promote him but given the backdrop of The Churches worldly provenance, it is entirely to be expected therefore as explained earlier, I seek to limit the damage he is able to do and I have the testament of some to comfort me in having achieved this for them. This purpose goes a long way to healing my issues in the absence of Justice from The Church which makes a mockery of it's purpose in allowing Abbot Cuthbert and his Ilk their regime to continue.
