Changing Habits Part 2. Back Out Of The Habit!

Changing Habits Or More Of The Same (Part 1)

It was brought to our attention recently that Dom Gregory Carey O.S.B. has not made Solemn Profession at Farnborough but has instead returned to secular ministry as Fr Dominic Carey, a Parish Priest in Peru and in the same area as fellow Priest Fr Aldo Colona who he knew from his time in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay.

So what was he doing in Farnborough and did he ever have any intention of making Solemn Profession? Was he just lying low, waiting for more dust to settle on the skeleton of The S.S.J. ?

I imagine lockdown must have heightened any tension but also that the stream of pious devout young Catholic gentlemen visiting, retreating and joining the community seeking spiritual succour must have inevitably dried up. Indeed the monastic community itself that was thriving when Carey joined has once again, as oft times before, seen another exodus.

So whether opportunity arose or the culmination of well laid plans and a little clerical laundering to introduce to a Parish in Peru a Priest who according to their facebook page:

IT'S OFFICIAL NOW 😊😊
WELCOME RVDO DR. DOMINIC ANTHONY GREGORY CAREY CHURCHILL to our Divine Mercy Parish Community,
may Saint Joseph guide you in the path of holiness and help you imitate your great faith, your perfect chastity, your total surrender to God's service.
🕊 Mr. of Divine Mercy Bless you and Enlighten you as Pastor of our community. ➡️➡️
A good shepherd, a shepherd according to the heart of God, is the greatest treasure the good God can grant to a parish and one of the most precious gifts of Divine Mercy

If you failed in judgement or practice as greviously in most other professions you would be out of the door very quickly and never work in that profession again yet the mafia that is the RCC moves clerics around, has them lay low and then back into ministry hoping all will now be well....or is it worse than that? Is it that serial fraudsters and abusers look after their own and engineer further opportunities for themselves and their disciples to offend!

And we are to believe the RCC has changed?

Pull The Other One!

I appeal to the beautiful souls there in Peru, check out Carey's history. He has had the benefit of the doubt and second chances. If you hear of any concerns regarding his behaviour, please do not dismiss these lightly.

Speaking of questionable second chances, Fr John Horgan (see "Changing Habits" part 1) is being reassigned July 15th

Do the beautiful souls of Immaculate Conception Parish, Vancouver know of Fr John's past?

 UPDATE

Carey has given up the parish and returned to the Abbey!

Fr Horgan has sadly died.
